A History of Podcasting: From 1980s Radio Tech to Multi-Billion Dollar Industry

Podcasting isn’t a fad that will go away like Clubhouse or Threads. In fact, podcasting has roots in the 1980s and sits alongside email and search as one of the longest-enduring digital communications channels. This article will chronicle the rise of podcasting from 1980s radio tech to the multi-billion dollar industry it has become.

New Podcast: Rookies to Rockstars

My team and I had the pleasure of working with WashingtonExec to launch a new podcast, Rookies to Rockstars, which aims to help newcomers in the GovCon space cut through the rules and red tape that often slows these professionals down.

Co-hosts Amanda Ziadeh and Camille Tuutti bring on GovCon leaders who get real about the lessons, missteps and strategies that shaped their success. In 20-minute episodes, guests break down what they’ve learned about winning contracts, building relationships and navigating the GovCon world. Check it out πŸ‘‡

A recent client win πŸ’ͺ

It's not every day that one of your clients delights you with a public testimonial on LinkedIn. Recently, my team and I helped Aaron from Pipeline Design and Engineering transition their weekly podcast from an audio-first production to a video-first production. Here's what Aaron had to say:

Host a business podcast? Take our survey!

One last thing. If you host a business podcast, please take 5 minutes to fill out this short survey about your experience hosting a podcast; the benefits, challenges, and opportunities.

I hope you enjoyed this email. If you have any questions about podcasting or topics you think are worth exploring, reply to this email and let me know!

Cheers,
- JT

Here’s the core insight: Discovery happens on video. Engagement happens in audio. Across several business podcasts my team and I produce, I noticed a consistent...

Hi, Reader. When you hear a new song for the first time, you might not like it. But after you hear it a few times, it starts to grow on you. Before long, it becomes your new favorite song and you can't believe you didn't like it when it first came out. Has this ever happened to you? It's psychology at play, and you can use this cognitive bias to help market smarter. Because, when it comes to marketing your professional services firm, the song must remain the same. On the latest episode of...

Hi, Reader. In a sea of AI-generated content, podcasting is a more human way to do marketing. Think about it. How do you know that LinkedIn post wasn't written by a ghostwriter? Or ChatGPT? But when you see a person's face and hear their voice, day after day, week after week, with a consistent message and dash of personality? You start to build familiarity, which is a stepping stone to trust. This can all be made possible with a podcast. But before you go out and purchase an expensive...
