🎙Amtower Off Center: Embracing New Channels in GovCon Marketing

Hi, Reader.

Welcome to Podcasting in Professional Services—the newsletter for business podcasters.

Each edition features a profile of a business podcaster, documenting their journey and podcasting experience.

Podcast Example: Amtower Off Center

The GovCon market is made up of niches. Podcasting is like on-demand niche radio.

‬Mark Amtower, the host of Amtower Off Center," part of the ‪Federal News Network‬, is a leading expert in GovCon marketing and LinkedIn advising.

Known for his deep understanding of the government market and strategic insights, Mark has been helping businesses navigate the complexities of government contracts for years. In this episode, you'll learn:

  • How Mark leverages podcasts as a powerful tool for business development and client relationship building
  • Why adopting new communication channels is crucial, particularly in the typically slow-to-adapt government market
  • The strategies behind creating an engaging LinkedIn profile and connection strategy for government contractors
  • Mark's expert advice on starting your own podcast and standing out in niche-heavy markets
  • How consistent podcasting can position you as a subject matter expert in the business landscape

This Week in Podcasting: Platform Analytics

I'm trying out a new segment of my newsletter — This Week in Podcasting — where I share something noteworthy that might be of value to you, Reader.

Recently, I've had a few people ask me about how to do deeper dives into their podcast analytics beyond what they see in BuzzSprout or LibSyn.

I was surprised to find that they didn't know that Apple and Spotify had their own platform analytics, which offers deeper insights, like % of episode consumed, and total number of 'followers'.

Here are links where you can log in and take a trip down the analytics rabbit hole:

I hope you enjoyed this edition of Podcasting in Professional Services. Thank you so much for reading. If you have any questions or feedback, please reply to this email.

Cheers,
- John

Hi, Reader. A week or so ago, I posted on LinkedIn about a content framework that has been coming into focus: the podcast marketing funnel. It sparked some thoughtful responses from marketers, podcast hosts, and firm leaders. Naturally, I wanted to take a moment to expand on the subject and some of the points people chimed in with. Here’s the core insight: Discovery happens on video. Engagement happens in audio. Across several business podcasts my team and I produce, I noticed a consistent...

Hi, Reader. When you hear a new song for the first time, you might not like it. But after you hear it a few times, it starts to grow on you. Before long, it becomes your new favorite song and you can't believe you didn't like it when it first came out. Has this ever happened to you? It's psychology at play, and you can use this cognitive bias to help market smarter. Because, when it comes to marketing your professional services firm, the song must remain the same. On the latest episode of...
