Is business podcasting a matter of survival? ⌛️

Hi, Reader.

Welcome to Podcasting in Professional Services. Each week, you'll get podcasting research, trends, and examples. This week, we're exploring why simply out-lasting other shows in your niche can lead to podcasting success.

Is Business Podcasting a Matter of Survival?

According to Podcasting Industry Insights courtesy of Daniel J. Lewis, only 16% of all podcasts on Apple are active, having published a new episode within the last 90 days.

Of the 88,015 podcasts with 'business' as the primary category, 21.2% are active—slightly higher than average. But think about that for a second.

Only 1-in-5 business podcasts have published an episode in the last 90 days.

It might seem like everyone and their uncle has a podcast... but 80% of them are inactive. Check out the data breakdown here.

So what does this mean for business podcasters?

Consistency and frequency matter. Can't make a weekly cadence? Publish every-other week instead. If you can outlast other shows in your niche, you'll be in good position to bring in those listeners when their favorite show goes dark.

Ok, now let's take a look at some of the recent episodes from the Red Cedar portfolio.

VP of Marketing Reveals 4 Tactics That Still Work in 2026

What would happen if your marketing team could only rely on four channels for the next year? In this episode of Spiraling Up, the team is joined by Dawn Hancock, VP of Marketing at VERTEX, to answer that exact question. Together, they build their own “Marketing Mount Rushmore”—debating and defending the four tactics that matter most right now. Watch on YouTube.

3 Option Pricing Tables Part I: The Power of Three

Most professional services firms unknowingly make pricing harder than it needs to be. In this episode of Breaking BizDev, John Tyreman and Mark Wainwright explore one of the most powerful—and underused—tools in professional services pricing: the 3-option pricing table.

When prospects are given a single option, they hesitate. When they're given too many options, they get overwhelmed. But when they're presented with three clear choices, something interesting happens: decision-making becomes easier, value becomes clearer, and conversations shift from price to outcomes.
